Thursday Style Guide: Cat Jewelry

My dear friend Maddy from MP Daily bought me the cutest, most darling kitty cat earrings as a congratulations gift on my new cat, Maya.  THANK YOU, MADDY!!!  My beau and I adopted Maya 4 weeks ago from Zani’s Furry Friends animal rescue.  We were looking for a cat that had already been declawed and came across this little love bug on their website.  We had a great experience with Zani’s FF and I’d highly recommend them for anyone looking to adopt a dog or cat in NYC.

So…I’ve started to become that crazy cat lady.  Eeeks, I can’t help myself but I’m obsessed with Maya.  It’s all that I talk about and for the first 2 weeks I couldn’t wait to get home to spend time with her.  I’ve calmed down a bit (fortunately for all of my friends) but I still am in crazy love with my girl and am planning on purchasing the following pieces to show the world my love 🙂

From Maddy, these looks just like Maya.

Volunteering in 2012

Is one of your new year’s resolutions to volunteer more in 2012?  If you’re an animal lover, I’ve got a great suggestion for you!  Visit the Best Friends Animal Society’s sanctuary and spend a week with some of your favorite and some non-traditional animals.

In 2010, I volunteered at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Angel Canyon in Kanab, Utah.  Best Friends is the nation’s largest no-kill sanctuary and is home to over 1,800 animals including dogs, cats, horses, pigs, birds and more who come from shelters and rescue groups around the country.  some of the animals have special physical or behavioral needs.

This is a really cool place for animal and nature lovers alike.  It’s beautiful in the canyon setting and there are so many different animals to help with, you really make a difference.

Check out their website for more info on adopting an animal, volunteer opportunities and other ways you can help out – www.bestfriends.org

I flew into Las Vegas and rented a car to drive 4 hours to the sanctuary.  On the way I stopped at Zion National Park to spend a few hours exploring the park.

You can also visit the Grand Canyon while you’re in Utah.  I visited the North Rim.

The Coral Pink Sand Dunes Park is in Kanab and you can visit this park after a day at the sanctuary.
